Some time in the 1970’s in Germany Dieter Heimsath and Joseph Schoning started assembling a family tree of the Klaphecke (German spelling) name from Bad Laer, Germany. The final chart has an amazing amount of names and dates back to 1532. They found that two brothers left Germany and moved to America. Georg Heinrich Klaphecke left Germany in 1839 and went to Louisville, KY.
Georg’s younger half brother Ludwig Johann Heinrich Klaphecke Schuster left for America in 1853.
In the 1970’s Dieter placed an ad in a Louisville paper asking for a response from anyone named Klapheke and they got an answer from Rudy Klapheke.
In the 1990’s(?) Darrell and Lydia Goss took the time to verify the Klapheke names, births, deaths by sifting through Louisville records, interviewing family members and photographing graves. Floating among the families are several copies of a wonderful book they created.
Between 1980-2010 Martha Lynn Klapheke put seven booklets together of the living family of Carrie and Charles Klapheke, Sr. The details used were from each person or their parents. Since people were alive the books tried to also represent personalities, interests and photographs.
